Approved quarantine premises

Background

Animal Health license Authorised Quarantine Premises and Authorised Carrying Agents/Portal Carrying Agents under the Rabies (Importation of Dogs, Cats and other Mammals) Order 1974 (as amended) on behalf of Defra, Scottish Executive and Welsh Government.

How to Apply

Application notes

  • The application can be accessed and completed electronically – alternatively Anialth will accept downloaded and posted applications
  • Applications should be returned to your local Animal Health office details of which can be found in our contact us pages
  • Applications completed electronically can be sent by e-mail together with copies of any supporting documentation to your local Animal Health office
  • We will process your personal data in accordance with our fair processing notice
  • We will acknowledge all applications within 15 working days of receipt
  • We will issue authorisations within 30 days of all conditions being met and all fees, if appropriate, being paid
  • We will outline the duration of the approval period where applicable
  • Where the application is dependent on a test of competence, inspection, and/or test of any process, we will provide an outline timescale for the application process when the application is acknowledged
  • Where the authorisation is not issued within the timescales given, ‘tacit authorisation’ will not apply, due to the overriding reason of public interest being public safety
  • We will provide a contact name and address for the Department/Section dealing with the application process
  • We will provide a full reason for refusal of any application and any steps necessary to fulfil any requirements for re-application
  • We will deal with any complaint regarding the handling of the application in accordance with our Customer Service Standards (PDF 978KB).
