Exercise Silver Birch 2010 : Lessons Identified – 12 Month Update
Published on Monday 28 November 2011 at 17:15
Exercise Silver Birch simulated a GB wide outbreak of foot and mouth disease. It included field elements, simulated strategic meetings and briefings and culminated in a two day live exercise in November 2010. The report summarising the lessons from the exercise was published in March this year. This update reports on the progress made in addressing issues raised during the exercise, and forms part of AHVLA’s process of continuous improvement in our preparedness to respond to a disease outbreak.
The GB FMD control strategy has also been published and is available from the Defra website at: http://www.defra.gov.uk/animal-diseases/a-z/foot-and-mouth/#control
